Guest guest
I found a picture of a soxhlet at http://www.lab-glass.com/html/nf/EXTA-LG-6900.html. I have no commercial interest in that firm. A good explanation can be found in Junius's handbook of plant alchemy. However, plant material is placed in a thimble which is placed in the soxhlet reflux chamber . The solvent is placed in the flask and heated to a vapour. It rises through a tube, hits the condenser liquifies, falls in the chamber with the thimble and rise until it hits the level of the reflux tube. The liquid along with the extract then ends up in the flask and the process continues. Gilbert
