Guest guest
craig, my shanghanlun teacher is Heiner Fruehauf, chairman of the dept of classical chinese med at National College of Naturopathic Med in Portland, OR. Heiner and all his teachers are grads of the chengdu school of TCM. They espouse a position that six channel theory is applicable to all diseases, not just external cold damage. In the commentaries in your book, it seems that this position is somewhat implicit, though never mentioned outright. Many of the formulae are discussed in broader principles applicable to a wide range of diseases. I have made use of the shaoyang discussion on the pivot concept and its relationship to the qi dynamic, for example, in understanding the plicationof xiao chai hu tang and derivatives.. I was wondering what your position on this matter is. Fruehauf says the position he holds is not just implicit, but it is a well documented, albeit minority, position within TCM. todd
