Cebaiye (bitter + astringent, slightly cold) cools the blood (liangxue), stanches bleeding (zhixue) and, at the same time nourishes yin (Yang3yin)or boosts yin (yiyin).Preferably treats bleeding at the upper part (of the body)(for instance, cough type Feiyin xu with a bit of blood in the phlegm). Diyu (sour + cold) contracts/constrains (shoulian)and starches bleeding. Diyu tan (charred Diyu) is used to treat bleeding from the lower part.
