one low tech honey ball method

Hi Ed,

Your suggestions intrigue me particularly since my method has been severely

elementary in comparison. The master Japanese practitioner I have been

working for advises to simply form a well in the middle of the ground herbs

and add room temp honey little by little. For Liu Wei Di Huang Wan, each

herb is sorted for superior material to yield 100 grams of each herb. With

600 grams of material for LWDHW, approx 1/4 cup of honey is added at a

time, mixed thoroughly with a fork with each dollop of honey, to a total of

about 1 cup of honey or less. You end up with a gummy ball which you

proceed to roll into long tootsie rolls of even consistency and diameter.

Then, snip 3 gram chunks off (we use a small scale) the roll and roll those

individual chunks by hand into a ball. Store in a plastic bag with a small

amount of ground herb in it, so the balls don't stick to each other. 1 ball

TID eaten. voila. very low tech. extremely time consuming. long shelf

life. no refrigeration necessary.

Would you be so kind as offer greater detail(s) on mixing Honey with the raw

herbs. Specifically do you heat the Honey first, roll together in wax paper

and pinch off into bite-size balls, form into lozenges, wrap again

individually in wax paper. Instruct the patient to swallow whole pills or

drop in hot water.

Additionally do you first make a syrup using the raw herbs then drop into

heated honey and remove and cool the honey coated pills?

Or take a large Raw Pill mixed with enough honey to hold them together and

drop in heated Bee's Wax to form a protective coating for latter use.

(remove bee's wax before using)

I think there are many ways of presenting Honey balls, all being quite

similar but I am interested in what seems to work better for some and not

for others.

ah, so many questions so little time.

Enjoy Life
