Guest guest
Hi Dagmar! sorry this became so long, but there is a lot of stuff here: - Yunnan...! Yes, that is a nice place. But have to admit it used to be much nicer, now with skyskrapers shooting up like mushrooms everywhere. The old city is completely gone, and people lured the fashion magazines, so they now look like nice capitalists instead of what ever you might want in the old days (everything from Mao suits to girls looking like wild madonna copies...) The trees are gone, you know, the old alleys ... the old french street is gone, luckily western hills is still there, and not much people have yet found out that it is much nicer on top of the hills away from the turist traps, so it is still possible to find nature 40 min away from city edge on a bike... Yes, I was teached the version of TCM that is supposed to be scientific. They have of course the same schools and methods in Kunming as the rest of China. But they also had a nice way to skip western medicine stuff when nobody knew what else to do, so I dont think it is too bad an aproach to work with both (zhong xi yi jiehe). Even if there is more to say about this (see later). Or is there an general disagreement on this around the world? - Treating patients in Denmark: I have only started to take in a few, because im still in the process of making up my mind on how to continue after I came back last year, trying to set myself up here, or deciding to go for more adventures. And yes, The western medicine " order " in sense of an middle age styled catholic power order, is ruling the medical world through the public social insurance that everybody uses and pays taxes for. The consequence is a system that is more communist than what china ever had, long time waiting, bad service, stressed out doctors that doesn't care much. People are tired of this, and so an alternative market has begun to flourish, But of course the medical system has reacted to this, following Machiavelli to the point with laughter and despise. So people have to pay alternative things by them selves, and this makes alternative medicine the most expensive option, but still it goes on. So as an alternative practisioner, you are not allowed to advertise with " medicine " or with specific indications of " curing this " . It all has to be very vague, which again only gives rise to a very difuse and chaotic jungle on the alternative market. If you are a qualified Dr, you can say what you want, so that is the issue... - Stomachs and herbs: I think it is very general for westeners to have problems with the herbs, I mean when it comes to stomachs, right? So what is often done is reducing the amount, sometimes 50-75%, and is seems to be the case that it is still working...? If anyone has comments on this, Welcome to reply! But I work on finding ways to make raw material powders, and I think that will solve a lot of the problem. It is difficult though, to find a way to make powders that doesn't destroy the active contents, (I would refer to the Works of Alfred Vogel, the swiss guy for his arguments on this, it is the same with flour and bread!) So, maybe I end up with a system that I can sell to everybody and get rich, and travel back to Yunnan for permanent holiday, eh? (JOKE over now, - relax)... So I know its hard to figure it out, but I keep on working with it. I dont trust the factory made powders, - its simple: bigh machines, much heat, much processing, lot of contact with foreign materials and air, - giving bad quality powders. Am I right? And I would say, it must be the same for patent medicines. Acupuncture is now getting comercialised here in Denmark to. I went to a lecture on the university of medicine in copenhagen, and saw how the licensed doctors presents acupuncture to the students there. Shocked, that was what I became, these people basicly just prop in needles into people and thats it, no organised practise in anyway. And still they have good effect... - I dont get it. In China I saw that acupuncture in general did not have as good effect (on chinese) as it seems to have on westerners (mainly in the west). How is that? Psychology? It is an very intruiging phenomena. That's why I have talked so much about developing a therapeutic psychology for the Chinese, it would help a lot in their clinical efficacy. And it is happening, but slowly. So here I think both the western doctors and the chinese health system (for the one who thought that as an " order " it is different from the western habits...) can learn a lot from the alternative wawe, (what I see here in DK), - to use the psycological factor in finding contradictions in between the inner will of a person and the end action, joining these two forces, and people might even get healthy without medicine... Well, we still need medicine of course, for those who can't deal with those things, but I wonder how much further western medicine can continue to persist on double blind random trials etc etc when it is an system that cant take into consideration that " Xing yu Shen, Bu ke fen li " , as it even says in the chinese medical text books... There is so much that could be talked about... and this is already far too long.... sorry... But, Dagmar, I would be very happy to learn more about your story. It might also be good to have you as a contact when it comes to arranging school things in beijing(?), so feel free to take contact with me. email: sebastian All the best, Sebastian! -- Get your firstname@lastname email for FREE at http://NamePlanet.com
