Guest guest
>I have a patient who >is liver fire /with damp heat burning downwards >who has one main distressing symptom....Itchy anus. >From a western medical perspective he has candida . Since you have resolved the heat, check his diet to eliminate sugars, fruits and grains, particularly in unrefined forms. Contrary to popular opinion I find that including non-yeast fermented foods helps balance gut flora if candida overgrowth is present. Fermented foods like miso, blue cheese and full-fat unsweetened yogurt seem to survive digestive juices better than probiotic supplements, kim chee, pickles, and sauerkraut, although I suggest taking all of the above. I've also seen itchy anus in people who routinely eat pumpkin or watermelon seeds that are not unshelled. Also in people who take excessive vitamin B6, if anal heat signs are present And I assume you have screened out sx for pinworms, etc, for which there are many herbs.
