Guest guest
Jason, Is there any alcohol in the herbal preparations? She could be sensitive to the alcohol. >I have a client that whenever she takes 'any ' single herb or herbal formula >she gets 'HOT Legs' after a few days. The hot legs (post. and ant. thigh) >occur around 6-7 am (she goes to sleep around 2am) and are VERY HOT >preventing sleep... She will discontinue fx/ and the hot legs go away. She >says even single herbs such as Echinacea will produce this. She has d-h in >the lower jiao, sp qi xu with damp/Phlegm (also rising- to head) , some lv >qi yu. Guest guest
Jason Wierd reactions like that make me sense yin fire or gu stuff. Echinacia seems like a tonic and would aggravate a damp heat pattern .Does she go to bed at 2am or fall asleep at 2 am .Can you tell me which herbs you presribed in an example formula? Yes she is sp qi xu one of the (5 or so) causes of yin fire but am unclear how to apply the 'label' yin fire to actual practicality...Echinaceaseems like a tonic and would aggravate a damp heat pattern .Actually according to Tierra Echinacea is a heat clearing herb that is bitter cool and pungent, entering the Lung St/ Liver meridians. Other info. is of course welcome, because classifying western herbs energetically is still a great mystery (at least to me)...Does she go tobed at 2am or fall asleep at 2 am. Goes to bed at 2am... and falls asleep right away...Can you tell me which herbs you prescribedin an example formula?3 formulas so far have definitely caused this reaction... Xiao yao wan, gui pi tang, liu jun zi tang... as far as she mentions 'all' herbs do this... If there is truly d-h in the lower jiao (yellow greasy coat in back / warm abd.- + other damp signs in upper) then these herbs seem to somehow push this down into the leg... Question... can one be Yang Xu and have this constrained yang (d-h) lodged in the lower jiao? If so what is the Tx. Principal? clear the accumulation 1st? Or what other signs would one need to dx d-h in lower jiao.. there is no major urinary/ bowel issues (there is freq urination/ and slight loose stools)... To answer Z'ev --> there was no alcohol in the formulas, but the patents were from china.-Jason
