Guest guest
A friend's niece was recently in a car accident and sustained nerve and arterial damage in a shattered shoulder and down to her finger tips. She has since been diagnosed with reflex sympathetic dystrophy. I've never worked with RSD and apparently there are mixed results with acupuncture. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Guest guest
Hello Catherine, Sex, age, pulse rate, pressure, ontiology, etiology, etc.,? Which finger tips? Please be professional and specific. Which meridian? What is the specific problem? Ulnar or Radial Neuropathy (i.e., SI meridian or LI meridian, or San Jiao, etc.)? Why is it that there is so much mystery here? I wonder why the vocabulary of N. American trained practitioners of TCM or TEAM visits no response to traditional allopathic jargon? Back to your patient, I recommend MSM, methyl-sulfonyl-methane, 1 to 1.5 mg daily (with additional vitamin C, in a 2:1 dosage), MSM 1500 mg, to VIT. C, 750 mg.,) daily. Increase to 6 mg of MSM with 3 mg of vitamin C daily)... OK, best wishes, if you wish to search further... luke Luke Klincewicz, OMD 773-278-0524 l.klincewicz , C Hemenway <chemenway@b...> wrote: > A friend's niece was recently in a car accident and sustained nerve and > arterial damage in a shattered shoulder and down to her finger tips. Guest guest
Luke, et al: This was perhaps not an appropriate question for this list -- the RSD patient is the niece of a friend, not my patient. My friend was interested in general types of treatment for RSD, in order to advise her niece, not specific herbal formulas. So the mystery is that I have no more information than I gave, as I've never seen the person. Thanks for your suggestions. Catherine
Guest guest
Catherine, Call it like you see it from a TCM perspective and then use the indicated formula and herbs. I've seen RSD present like wei syndrome before and seen some response from formulas that treat wei syndrome. Mark
Guest guest
Catherine- I've been using various homeopathic remedies for more than 10 years for a friend of mine with quite severe RSD, and the results have been substantial. The remedy varies by the s/s - sometimes hypericum, other times coffea, tellurium, arsenicum, cuprum, etc. She's had RSD since 1984, and only in the past 2 years have her nerves been able to handle acupuncture. (Needling 2 gates and opening the Du does wonders). She's also on a continually modified formula of blood, chi, yin and kid.yang tonics that help tremendously with overall stamina and resistance. She has done alot of research on RSD since mainstream medicine seemed to be at a loss in how to ease her suffering, and has set up various support and networking groups to share the information she has found. Should your friend wish to contact her, please email me privately. Regina Gabrielle, LAc, MSOM, DHom
