Here is the update on my 85 yr old patient who developed IBS after his gallbladder got removed two years ago.

I saw him for the second time today and his major symtoms, such as cramping, bloating and constipation have *dramatically* decreased! I was surprised that he reacted so favorably after just one treatment, but I'm very glad it worked.

I think the flax seed oil definitely helped with the constipation. He's so sensitive, he only takes one capsule a day... I'm sure that Metamucil was too strong for him and now I'm thinking that may have been the main culprit in causing the cramping and bloating.

He also transitioned to eating sticky rice (Japanese) as his main staple instead of bread.

Per Joan's recommendation I started him on Red Clover today because he still has some heat signs. (Tongue is slightly red and dusky with dry white coat, not as geographic as last time.)

He's definitely got liver issues because he gets terribly anxious and depressed. When he gets that way he gets intercostal pain in the left side and both his arms start to feel like "the skin is burning".

Next time I'm going to address more of the Liver Qi stag and focuse on his new chief complaint, which is hemorroids. Please let me know if you know of any good remedies for it. I told him to do warm sitz baths and he's already doing the suppositories at night.

Thanks for all your help.

Liz
