Guest guest
Greetings, The herb link does seem like a good one - thanks for passing it on. However, the article on chinese herbs and IBS unfortunately did not fully state the findings of that well-designed research. In this study, the standard chinese herbal formulas seemed to treat patients as well as the individualized formulas in the short term, but the long term lasting outcomes were with the individualized formulas, not the standard or placebo groups. " WHile there were no significant differences between patients receiving standard or individualized treatment at the end of the treatment period, on follow-up, patients in the individualized group had maintained more substantial improvement. " Those interested in the full research can find it in JAMA, Nov. 11, 1998 - Vol. 280, #18, 1585-1589. Also, the standard formula was listed in the research article: dang shen 7% huo xiang 4.5% fang feng 3% yi yi ren 7% chai hu 4.5% yin chen 13% bai zhu 9% hou po 4.5% chen pi 3% pao jiang 4.5% qin pi 4.5% fu ling 4.5% bai zhi 2% che qian zi 4.5% haung bai 4.5% zhi gan cao 4.5% bai shao 3% mu xiang 3% haung lian 3% wu wei zi 7% susan froehlich
