Guest guest
Dear Luke, I find pulse diagnosise varies so much between schools of thought and practitioners, so I try to analysis the tongue as well. Your pulses do suggest phlegm as slippery comes up a bit. There is a saying " skinny people have fire, & fat people have phlegm. " & " strange afflictions are usually phlegm. " The weight gain could be phlegm damp; the severe fatigue...also; is the fatigue worse after lunch etc; worse when wake up (damp). Even the aches & pains can be phlegm. Cearly though there is same Qi stasis (doesn't every US person have some!) The breast lump - conor - removal was it due to stasis, phlegm....I expect so when you say lump stone...is that plum stone traost, ie Qi stasis with phlegm, ie. Ban Xia Hou Po Tang ....which can also treat depression. Modification of the formula, eg, add Shi Chuan Pu, & Yu Jing for depression; or He Huan Pi & He Huan Hua; maybe a few mild diuretics eg. Che Qian Zi to assist weight loss via resolving damp through diuresis. Becareful to add tonics, eg. Ren Shen, to address the fatigue....could generate more stasis. The edema probably due to some Yang Xu, I suspect because of her age etc, Treat the phlegm & see what happens. Look at the tongue anyway; I bet its pleeled. This is phlegm & not Yin Xu. You ask if I prefer deplete, vacuous or deficient. Actually XU is the word of choise!
