Guest guest
Hello Heiko, I too would ask, " Anyway, Bob, what would you do? " Theory is fascinating, but all too often theorists seem deflected from the practical presentation. No offense, Bob, but i also have noticed that you are reluctant to share practical advise at this sight. Why? luke , " heiko " <heiko@l...> wrote: > Hi Sean > Your case interests me but I am a bit (I mean a lot ) unsure of how to help.I had a patient some years ago with the same problem again with a history of flu and medication .She had a few kidney and liver and spleen signs like in your case but didn't respond to what I did.And she had a lot of treatment from me and other TCM practitioners .I did plum blossum hammer on the scalp.....herbal washes on the scalp ....and lots of kidney tonics ...shou wu etc ...spleen tonics and liver stasis formula.....all with no result. > > In a case like this ......can we say its easy and treat the 5-10 patterns putting emphasis on the more leading symptoms .Personally I don't think so ......I tried that aproach with my patient last time and got nowhere. If I get a patient like that again I would have a new and different approach. The history of sore throats etc indicates wind and toxic heat. The reaction to the antibiotics may also have been like reacting to a toxin.Maybe the toxins affected the liver ...made the blood hot ...affected the wei qi ...affected the hair.....EASY! Perhaps this why they get better over a period of time as their liver (if its working) slowly gets rid of the poisons . > > I suggest using neutralising toxin herbs you know like pu gong yin ,bai hua shi shi cao ,ye ju hua etc > Just be carefull to fit it in to the totality of the symptoms ...that is be sure to have some spleen tonics ....to counteract the coldness of the neutralising toxin herbs. > Anyway Bob what would you do? > > If you want to rewrite the case history with the additional symptoms you come up with in the follow up visits I can submit it to the Australian education Research Council journal as they have a section for interesting case histories as yours and some great TCM practitioners from down under can help you out. > > Heiko Lade > Registered Acupuncturist / Chinese Herbalist > 2 Jenkins St. > Green Island, Dunedin > New Zealand > Tel: (03) 488 4086, Fax: (03) 488 4012 > http://www.lade.com/heiko > Email: heiko@l... Guest guest
Luke, I just don't have the time. In fact, I'm signing off after today. Besides, my books are chock full of practical advise, all written as clearly as I know how. Please be clear about what I am saying. Theory and practice are not divorced. If you understand the methodology, then the methodology itself answers your clinical questions. You use the theory to answer your clinical questions. However, to do this, you've got to be very clear about the theory. If you're not able to see the clinical implications and applications of some of what I've shared over the last couple of weeks, that suggests, at least to me, that you might need to go back over the theory from the beginning to build a sounder edifice.
