Guest guest
I am grateful for this media; it makes us equal. we can no longer hide behind the walls of intellectual complacency. and if we choose to ignore unfavorable responses, we do so in public (and not in an un-educated) view. sorry, but this media desinigrates the 'old boy's' forum. luke

I feel very hesitant to put my 2 cents in, in this forum. When I have, I've often been ignored. So I've mostly been keeping quiet. It doesn't feel particularly open or welcoming here to us non-academic (relative) newcomers to the field. Perhaps this just isn't an appropriate forum for me to be in, as I am minimally involved with materia medica at this point. But I also notice that most of the members of CHA do not participate.. Guest guest
Dear Catherine: I think you're taking the wrong attitude. It's a wonderful opportunity to pick the minds of some of the " major players " in the game (without paying their fees). Knowledge isn't democratically distributed. Don't bring your ego to the forum. Even though I don't work like (or sometimes agree with) either Z'ev or Bob Flaws, I always find their ideas worth listening to. They articulate an important line of thinking. And, even when I may not agree with them (our positions are never diametrically opposed), I respect the depth of experience that's brought them to their conclusions. In fact, any time Z'ev has recommended or mentioned a book, I buy it; he's cost me a fortune so far. Guest guest
Catherine, For what it's worth, I participate in these discussions for a couple of reasons. One of them is precisely to learn what's on other people's minds, and I am quite interested to read your 2 cents worth. I point out that I get both ignored and insulted (I'm thinking here of being compared to Hitler) for voicing my 2 cents worth, and though I am not always able, as James suggests, to leave my ego out of it (writers have such huge egos, you know) I do manage to lick my wounds and get on with it. Please do participate. And urge others to as well. Guest guest
Catherine, One of the problems for me with cyberspace is not seeing people face-to-face but responding to their words. I don't think there is any exclusion factors here, just responses to ideas, cases and issues. Remember, there are many students here who signed on for learning experiences. But yes, please, contribute what you can. No one here has all the answers. > Luke wrote: & nbsp; " sorry, but this media desinigrates the 'old boy's' >forum. Guest guest
And Jim, I think we agree a lot more than we disagree. I have always enjoyed your work over the years, and have never doubted your dedication to the field. I hope that you've got some money put aside for some more book recommendations. >Dear Catherine: > >I think you're taking the wrong attitude. Guest guest
Thanks, Ken and Z'ev. I re-read my post and I apologize for my tone. Guess some old buttons of mine were pushed. I most definitely appreciate the collective knowledge here. Catherine
Guest guest
Hello, Catherine, I would like to hear more from you. My point in the message that you referred to was to free ourselves from dogma and to welcome all original viewpoints. As a profession, we gain from a constant influx of fresh viewpoint. Thank you and do continue to participate. It takes courage but then, you and I can only gain from your remarks. Like Ken has pointed out, we are all subject to insult, ignorance and ridicule. If we have pointed purpose and intent, and pay dedicated attention, we can be of service to the community at large. Thanks for your reflections, Catherine, and I look forward to your participation. luke , C Hemenway <chemenway@b...> wrote: > Luke wrote: " sorry, but this media desinigrates the 'old boy's' forum.
