" Hmmm. Its been so long since I actually immersed myself in homeopathic remdies that this obvious point did not occur to me. Of course, Hahnemann and his followers liberated a vital force from inanimate objects. I was confusing this clearly broader view with a much narrower vitalist tradition espoused by certain 19th century biologists and mystics. Just a reminder to me that clues often lie in the materia medica and formulas themselves, particularly in such an empirical art like homeopathy. Thanks. someone wrote: " I am not so sure where vital force ends and qi begins. . . .it is a difficult subject to undertake, and I don't know if anyone has the answers to this. " I am not so sure at all, or even if the comparison is valid. For instance, was qi considered anything like a force? So that underscores my main concern, which is that to equate the two concepts is certainly premature. I have seen this equation in many places, right back to my first Naturopathic colege catalog, which gave students at the time an option to specialize in one of two forms of professional " energy medicine " , acupuncture or homeopathy. Numerous books and articles in the school library promoted this idea or just accepted the tenet a priori.
