Dear Dagmar,

your messages to this group are extremely interesting to me, and should be to

most students of TCM. As a practitioner working in China right now, you have

important information to share on education. Please share more. Specifically,

what is the overall description of the program? Number of hours, number of

clinical hours? Where is the focus (herbal medicine, acupuncture, both?) What

is your own training? In what country? And how did you end up in China? And

if you find it so unsatisfying, why are you still there? Thank you.

Hi Ken and Julie,

Should have said that: I am in Beijing, China.

I based my statement on my 7-year experience in Chinese Universities, and

many many talks to students, not just a few. I can't give you an official

poll on the state of TCM in China (sorry :) ), what my statement reflects

is what I perceive is the general sentiment here amongst students AND

teachers. It's the sentiment that I have perceived during my stay here (from

1991 to today).

Good to hear you are not angry :)

>But I can tell you that from my six years in Chengdu, I wouldn't say

>that the state of TCM practice or education is sorry there at all.

That's great to hear! You only have first had experience in Chengdu, I only

have first hand experience in Beijing. Both of us don't really know then

what is going on in the rest of China. I heard people say it is the same as

in Beijing, you heard differently.

Should we leave it at that?

>In fact, I am so not angry, that I would like to arrange to get

>together with you in Beijing, if that is where you are. I'll be there

>on the 24th for a couple of days.

Great! I would love to!

Yes. That was my original point.

You certainly can, but I don't see any reason why we should.

I plan to look into a bit more closely while I'm in China this summer.

I'll give you a call.
