Guest guest
For Chinese Herbal Medicine forum: Thanks BOB !!!! Awesome and refreshing, updating info and a summarising landmark - is what you give in this article! Thanks many times and greatest respects from me to you for your follow up on the chinese and computing - databasing questions. I will most likely return with even more vigour and determination with more questions on your forum, and I will repeat that it is perfect that we have the forum especially for this discussion. (http://www.paradigm-pubs.com/forums/cyber/index.html) I will advise everyone with interests or contacts to people with helpfull knowledge/skills or interest give this forum as much attention as possible, as I completely agree with Bob's Forum opener and now the latest article in the discussion: Chinese medicine in the west will only continue to grow and reach levels far beyond what we know in the west today. We need standards and uniform terminology in order to get closer to chinese medicine as it is in its real form in Chinese, no matter classic or modern. - No matter what the oppinion is, chinese medicine is created using classifications, hence the knowledge in it is structured according to classifications, - and the same thing with computer and database technology. Therefore in order to overcome this great task of creating the western version of chinese medicine that can be comparable to the chinese tradition (efficacy as well as knowledge), - and to do this in our time or so: databasing is the only and ultimate tool. It is also a gift of our time to this field. It is also where the west can contribute to and take part in TCM, - making chinese medicine a greater phenomena than " chinese " or " traditional " - in other words: Chinese medicine has a future, probably as a world wide phenomena. It is among those impulses that will make the world view more complete for both the scientist and the average person. - But to stay on the ground, there is so much work to do, and more attention to this area is very much needed at this stage, in order to start it off. Through the issue of databasing, the ultimate discussions about standardized terminlogy, standardized definitions and knowledge will be jumpstarted as a matter of " must " because of the principles of layout in databases. This will affect everyone in the field of TCM, from scholars, writers to practisioners, and in the end the patients receiving treatment. - I have been using a great deal of time lately trying to figure out more about databasing and chinese for a bigger multifunction chinese medicine database. My last ends comes to the possibility of using MySQL (that is a free source thing and among the fastest databases available). It has yet not been upgraded to Unicode, but will be in very near future (according to their website). http://www.mysql.com Another line I am following is the mojikyu project, 80.000 characters! http://www.mojikyo.gr.jp Any comments from anyone?
