Guest guest
Alon, and Everyone, It is some of the WORD choices that I wish were more practical (descriptive of meaning) than literal.Alon Marcus It is only and altogether natural that those who use a language and/or a dictionary of that language will find particular words and phrases that need attention. The thing to do in such instances is to give the attention to the particular words and phrases that need them. This is how a community cooperates to constantly develop and improve upon its tools. I see the Practical Dictionary as a standing and open invitation to all who work and study in this field to do just this. If we find term choices that can be improved upon, then we ought to roll up our sleeves and understand how to go about improving upon them. I have a very strong suspicion that Mssrs. Wiseman, Feng, Felt, et cie would warmly welcome such contributions. This is the kind of work that has been going on for centuries in China. It is, I believe, the responsibility of those of us who have taken up the subject to continue, contribute to and, indeed, improve upon this work. Noting that something needs improvement is an important step, but it is just one step. I would be very interested in knowing which word choices people find in need of improvement. And I would be very interested indeed to learn the particulars as to how people would improve upon the particular words that need to be improved. This is not an idle remark or a mere gesture on my part. I've been working for several years now on just one word, Qi. Next year, God willing and the creek don't rise, the results of this work will be available for all to scrutinize. Meanwhile, let's get down to a discussion of the particulars of those words, terms and phrases that need attention. Ken Rose & #160;
