How about this

Type 2 diabetes was present in 8.37% (1242) of participants; 2.14% (230) were anti-HCV-positive. None of the 19 individuals with type 1 diabetes was antibody positive. Individuals with type 2 diabetes were more frequently overweight, obese, or morbidly obese, had a family history of diabetes, lived below the poverty level, and were nonwhite. Those reporting past marijuana or cocaine use had a lower prevalence of type 2 diabetes. The highest prevalence of HCV infection was found in participants aged 40-49. When known risk factors for type 2 diabetes were adjusted, individuals aged 40 or older with HCV infection were 3 times more likely to have type 2 diabetes compared with those who were HCV-negative. Study investigators stated that results from this investigation extend previous findings by documenting the incidence of type 2 diabetes in a general population-based sample, and further establish the relationship between the 2 disease entities. They also maintained that earlier studies could have underestimated the association between HCV and type 2 diabetes by not considering associated variables such as body mass index, age, and illicit drug use. The major limitation in the current study, however, was the indirect measurement of injection drug use, a known primary risk factor for HCV infection.

I wonder what the relationship is between glucose metabolism and " The Munchies. "

I think cannabis lowers the blood sugar, thus the increased appetite

and especially carbo/sugar craving. and since type 2 DM is due to

tissue resistance, not deficient insulin, perhaps the dispersing effect

of cannabis increases the penetration of sugar from the bloodstream

into the tissues. I find that most type 2 DM responds well to herbs

that transfrom dampness and phlegm moreso than to yin supplements.
