Guest guest
<<Where does one acquire fresh reishi?>> Growing on oak, hemlock, or birch trees in east and west coast forests- and probably the middle west although I haven't personally looked. I have even found it on street trees in Brooklyn. Similar ganodermas include G. tsugae which is primarily found on conifers, G. oregonese which may be identical with G. tsugae and grows on the west coast, G. apanatum which lacks the red varnish is similar but not as strong and I reserve it for beverages and tonic uses, although it reduces phlegm, eliminates indigestion, stops pain and removes heat. A similar red varnished bracket polypore is Fomitopsis pinicola which shares many uses and makes a great tonic beverage with ginger or licorice. Incidentally I also found Poria cocos growing this summer. Has anyone harvested it from the wild?
