Guest guest
Re: Lab tests, Z'ev's comments I would much rather be a master pulse reader than a master lab test reader. I think one of the most impressive things that sets us apart from other medical professions is the emphasis on (necessity of, really) the development of our perception & our personal development. How many MDs consider their own cultivation to be a factor in their ability to diagnose and treat? Re: Impotence Hey, what's with the new use of tribulus (bai ji li) as an herbal Viagra? (I'm asking both from a TCM and Western perspective) Is it just its ability to free the liver Qi ? A function of its ability to alter blood pressure? Re: Breast augmentation with Chinese herbs???? I have a patient (28 years old) who is unsatisfied with the size of her breasts and wants to know if herbs can help. Her breasts never really developed in puberty. They grew slightly while she was nursing after the birth of her son a few years ago, but now (since weaning him) she has almost no breast tissue at all. Heiner Fruehauf actually has a chapter on underdeveloped breasts in The Treatment of Difficult and Recalcitrant Diseases with Chinese Herbs, and I'm considering these formulas - Xiakong Yongquan San, Heche Dazao Wan, etc. - as appropriate for her constitution. I can treat what I see (she has liver blood xu, which I'm addressing, though it hasn't affected her breasts), but I was wondering if anyone has any first hand experience with this sort of thing. There is an herb mentioned in the book - Fei Yang Cao - that has been used empirically to stimulate breast growth (it is also called Da Kong Cao - " enlarge the breast weed " ) - but I don't know what the botanical name is or where to get it. The book also mentions Dong Ju ( " eastern chrysanthemum " ) - anyone know what this one is? where to procure it? My approach is generally to nourish the liver and stomach, but I don't have great hopes, nor have I made her any promises. I'd welcome any ideas! Guest guest
Peter, I don't know about herbs for breast augmentation, but I did once read an article in one of the acupuncture journals on the use of acupuncture for breast augmentation, although I think the protocol was very frequent for over 6 months. I cannot remember the name of the journal, but you know OCOM's journals are fairly well catalogued these days. You could probably easily find it via their system. If you do find it, let us know the source. Jeff _______________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
