Re: American Liberty University....very strange place. I saw an advert for

them in one of the California Acupuncture periodicals, cannot remember the

name. I contacted them once a month for 4 months to try to get a catalog

and spoke with numerous people. Then, I just gave up. Last month, unlooked

for, I received their acupuncture catalog. It looks sort of glossy, but

there are dozens of horrific editorial errors in the text, that begin on the

first page with the president's " massage. " It sounds interesting, because

they offer distance learning, and isn't that convenient? But I sent e'mail

messages to three people in the catalog asking for information in response

to receipt of the catalog, including the president of the institution. I

asked about seven specific questions regarding length of time, cost,

accreditation, how old the program was, how many people who took the program

passed NCCAOM, etc.

I never received a single response to my three e'mail messages. Again, I

gave up. Maybe in two months, someone will respond. In the meantime, I

passed the catalog onto someone at AAOM who's involved in their research of

a doctoral program committee for kicks and giggles.

Read the fine print, Sean. It isn't a Ph.D. in Oreintal Medicine, its a

Ph.D. in Oriental Medicine Research, that's in Orange county California, right?

I got that ad yesterday too.

Thanks for the replies. I guess they have done a bulk mailing to everyone.

I wasn't impressed with what I heard over the phone. They have three

" campuses " and told me they were looking to get accredited in the North

Central Region. But the guy I spoke to sounded really nervous for some

reason.

The person I spoke with said they don't do any testing in their courses.

You write a 10-20 page paper for each course you take, do some research in

your clinic and write up your dissertation.

All in all they didn't leave me with a good feeling, and was wondering if

anyone else felt the same way.
