Guest guest
What do people think of the safety of (unheated) Zhu sha? I was never able to get any of my Chinese professors to speak at much length about it, maybe because they just assumed that as a practitioner in the U.S., I wouldn't be able to prescribe it anyway. Some practitoners have told me that taking a number of normal doses (0.3-2g) is okay if it is not for an extended period. What is an extended period? What is the threshold? Is there any remediation possible for an overdose? Would chelation therapy work? What do people think of the claim that cinnabar is a non-toxic form of mercury? I've put Zhu sha on canker sores with moderate relief. Does anyone have any opinions about this kind of use? I would estimate the total weight of cinnabar applied to be only about 0.1g per application. As the canker sore is an open lesion, I wonder if there is a higher degree of absorption. Since the Tibetans have taken medicinal metallurgy to a higher level, I wonder what their take on mercury is. Any ideas are welcomed. And, by the way, this query was not prompted by my overdosing (or even just dosing) anyone. thanks.
