Guest guest
Yuri You might ask if your patient has had a liver panel for Hep C. It can cause spleenomegaly as well as the other sy
Guest guest
Sorry, my e-mail is acting up. As I was saying, Hep C can cause splenomegaly and the other symptoms you mentioned. Misha Cohen has a great book on the treatment of HepC in terms of eastern & western medicine. Good Luck Lornee
Guest guest
Does anybody know how to explain splenomegaly in terms of TCM? I have a rather difficult case. My patient is skiny male of 43 years old. For two months he has distending pain and fullness in the epigastrium area and pain in the right hypochondrium. He has weakness, pale face, weak pulse and pale tongue. At the same time he complains irritability all the time and becomes angry very easy. Appetite is normal,no constipation or diarrhea, stools is normal consistency. He sleeps usually well but last several days it was rather hard for him to fall a sleep His ultrasound test shows the enlarge spleen and his family doctor told to him that probably he will need some kind of surgery very soon. On pulpation his R hypochondriac region normal but left side you feel some kind of enlargement. My diagnosis is blood deficiensy and Qi plus Phlegm stagnation in middle jiao. I am going to offer him to take some blood and Qi moving herbs.Does anybody have some other ideas? Yuri

You also say the right side on palpation feels normal but the left feels enlarged. Will you please clarify so we can help you with this case? Is it the right or left side that is affected? Also, what " kind of surgery " did his family doctor say he should have? Thank you. Julie Chambers
