Guest guest
Dear Patrick: Autoimmune diseases are interesting and, in general, are best described in 5-Phase/ 6 Energy patterns. But you can start by describing her basic TCM patterns, and make careful analysis about her emotional life because it is often the driving force and set up. If you're familiar with pulse diagnosis, pay special attention to what's going on in the right proximal position as it shows san jiao (brain and nervous system), stomach meridian (since it crosses at St9), and of course liver (where stress accumulates over time). Also what are her test results for TSH, T4 and T3? Jim Ramholz , " Patrick Rudolph " <patim.rudolph@g...> wrote: > Somebody came up to me and asked wether CM can help with autoimmunic > Thyreoiditis. Guest guest
Thanks for your advice Jim, I will check that out IF she comes, but I actually don't treat her yet. It was on an information evening about chinese medicine, I gave in a nearby TaiJi school, that she would ask me. So I don't have any symptoms, pulse... so far. Did you treat that disease successfully? What can successfully mean in this context? Is it possible to stop the process of destruction of the thyreoidea, or is it more of a balancing/regulating effect(like you mentioned the emotional side, which I'm sure is an important factor)? My question is what to answer on her question: Can CM help, to what extend, is it possible to avoid the substitution(which she doesn't want)? I know there is no definite answer to these questions but maybe a guiding line. thanks for any more information, pat
Guest guest
Dear Pat: The general rule is " if the body can do it, you can help it to undo it. " CM can help, but I feel you need to do more than the general 8-principle symptom patterns. You will need to use 5-Elements and 6-Energies in your diagnosis; knowing pulse diagnosis will be invaluable to track the relationships between the organs. Translating the Western medicine test results into 5-elements will be of help, too. The first thing to find out is WHY the thyroid is the target of the immune system. If you can stop that process, then you can halt the disease at that point and prevent it from doing futher damage. Unfortunately, if there's already been significant physical damage to the thyroid, compensating therapies and strategies will have to be employed thereafter. There are various answers to why: problems related to the throat chakra (if you're of that mindset to talk in those terms---but it does point out some of the underlying emotional problems that need to be approached in terms of 5-Elements); some type of chronic degreneration of the thyroid due to poor nutrition, that consequently releases enough genetic material that triggers an immune response; problems due to pituitary or adrenal involvement; blockages along particular meridians; or some other 5-Element inbalance. My current Hashimoto client is holding her own well; but her condition is also complicated by fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, depression, breast cancer, and now chemotherapy and radiation. Guest guest
Patrick, There will be a chapter on the Chinese medical treatment of Hashimoto's thyroiditis in Philippe Sionneau's and my upcoming release, The Chinese Medical Treatment of Western Medical Diseases, due out in about 6 months from Blue Poppy Press. For the time being, a discussion of the pattern discrimination treatment of this condition is included in Blue Poppy Seminars Distance Learning program, Allergies & Autoimmune Diseases.
