Guest guest
Hello Everyone, My name is Sean Martinez, I am a new member on this list. I am thinking of creating myself a new account because my old one (at eGroups) was lost with the takeover ordeal (oddly enough I still get my digests), but I plan to be lurking around for awhile. This group seems like a wonderful resource. I am planning on going to China in the fall, for TCM study, if everything works as planned. At the moment I have my eye on Chengdu University of Traditional (CUTCM). I am debating first studing Chinese for one or two years, even though CUTCM seems to offer their ciriculum in English (albeit at slight inflated prices). I havn't registered yet, and I also don't know if I will have to take the Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics test before I go. This last point is unclear to me because I already have had some university courses. If I can be considered already at the undergraduate level or a transfer student, would that mean I don't have to take the MC & P test (I never took HS chem & physics classes)? I can't find answers to many of my questions. Hopefully, now that I have found this group, etc. I might find some answers. Another issue for me is that I have been sick for a few years with CFS (odd for someone in their early twenties, but that is my karma, or whatever). I recently made huge progress in getting better with Tibetan Medicine. I had been staying in north India, and had the fortune to meet some of the few remaining doctors of this dying tradition. My plan is to try Chinese medicine and acupuncture while I am studying in China, and hopefully, hopefully that will increase my stamina even more so that I can cope with the stress of classwork, living in a third world country, etc. Back to school issues... Has anyone here personally attended or known a student of CUTCM? If so, what have you heard or experienced, etc.? Also does anyone know of good Chinese language-learning schools in Sichuan? It seems there are plenty in the major port citys, but what about in Sichuan? Well, this has become too long already so I will end here. If anyone want to write me a personal reply... my email is sean_martinez. {There is an underscore " _ " in my address, it isn't a space.} Ciao, Sean

He is en route, right now,but he is offline temporarily. I have had several of my teachers from CUTCM. I think it is the school in china most devoted to classical medical studies. Dan Bensky has a colleague from Chengdu, shou chun Ma, in seattle. There is also guohui liu at OCOM in Portland. Call OCOM at 503-253-3443. Also contact Heiner Fruehauf at NCNM in Portland at heiner He is chair of the CM dept. there and has spent most summers at CUTCM for the past ten years. Almost all of the NCNM professors are from CUTCM. Between Seattle and Portland, the great NW has become like chengdu in America.
