New cleaning method for herb grinders

For any of you that have one of those big industrial strength herb grinders,

you've probably noticed all the gunk that builds up in there after you grind

a lot of Huang Jing, Shu Di, Gou Qi Zi, etc...

Well, the other day I discovered a new method for getting it clean as new

that involves minimal effort.

1. Load up the grinder about as full as you can with big pieces of Lu Gen

(Phragmites rhizome). (Zhu Ru may also work.)

2. Turn on the grinder.

3. Pay no attention to the horrible sound and smell that result as the herb

gets wound around the blades.

4. The lights in your office may dim and sparks may fly from the power

switch. This means it's working.

5. When you see smoke or the lights go out (whichever comes first), turn off

the grinder. If the lights have gone out, you probably don't have to turn

off the grinder, because you have just tripped the circuit breaker.

However, before reaching in you probably should turn it off anyway, in case

some helpful person decides to go reset the breaker for you.

6. Unscrew the lid. Watch out - it's hot!

6. Voila! The Lu gen has just rubbed all the herb powder off the inside of

your grinder. It is now as shiny as new.

7. Remove the charred Lu gen (Tan Lu Gen) and use it for hemoptysis (be

aware that it is covered with all the herb powder that was stuck in your

grinder).

Patent pending.

Sorry, God got there first. I find that ANY " woody " herb does the same thing -

without the smoke or risk of tripping the circuit breaker. :)
