Guest guest
<<For instance the study Sheng Ma usage in western culture has tremendous possibilities compared to adhering to strict TCM thoughts.>> Just be aware that Sheng Ma sold in the US is rarely Cimicifuga but is more often Serrulata, so the Western gyn usages might not work. And the Angelica species tend to vary more significantly between species than most other families. While your caution is well taken, it is worth considering within Cimicifuga species if you can really get them. But I generally agree with looking at cross-cultural uses. Man jing zi/Vitex might be another example, although the species is different. And has anyone noticed how Che quian zi/plantain seed is used for diarrhea in TCM and as a laxative in Western medicine?- the difference being that in TCM we strain out the seeds in decoction and western usage is to injest the seeds, fiber and all.
