The Chinese "solution" is already inherent in 5-Phases (Wu xiang). In Western scientific literature there are already enough books on neurobiology, psychoneuroimmunology, and complexity theory to back up and flesh out Chinese medical theories. The real issue, I believe, is why is it underutilized in the version of TCM that is popular in America.Jim Ramholz Can the mind-body problem ever be resolved? It was always and everywhere a problem, whenever people started to think about the sense of their existence - in any culture - in any philosophy - in any religion. One part of the chinese "solution" the wu shen - the five spirits is also a philosophical approach, because nobody has ever seen the hun, the po, the shen, the yi and the zhi. But it´s practical because it´s based on long observation and it´s embedded in the theory of Chinese medicine, not only to the wu xiang but also to the spiritual or psychological aspects of the correlating organsystems. And therefore it can be very well applied in practical treatment, which is the most important fact for someone like me, who is not a philosopher but just a practitioner...
