Guest guest
I recently caught up on my posts and appreciated seeing Todd's research into GH releasers and kidney tonics. Also, I took note of Heiko's mentioning that he had patients coming in for that " edge " . I believe that this is a topic we should sit up for. With the economic mass of the B-boomers surging towards " old-age " , it looks like the longevity business is poised to become what the diet industry is today. Remember Ma Huang and Fang Ji? I recently came across a product called IGF-1 Plus...it's main ingredient is Lu Rong. With every new discovery published there are scores of profiteers hoping to make a buck before the gullibility of consumers wears off, or, another report refuting the findings of the first is published, or worse, there is a tragic outcome from use or misuse of a product. We've all seen it. I'll be happy to see any related topics in this discussion group. I think it might help those of us, or our patients, not yet skeptical of snake oil salesmen. Or maybe those unknowing of the fact that it is very easy, legally, to get around 'truth in advertising'. Just because the name on product indicates one thing 'don't make it so'... (This seems horribly obvious but I still see intelligent folks sucked in.) It's important to do the research. Or, at least, carefully read the info pack...that is, pick it's language apart...the reality is often 'between the lines'. For instance, something called " real HGH " and comes inexpensively is....NOT. Real HGH only comes from human beings...I don't think anyone has been farming humans yet! " ...human growth hormone is different from that produced in the pituitary gland of any other animal. Until recent years it had to be harvested in minute quantities from human pituitaries. In the 1980s, it became possible to synthesize HGH using recombinant DNA techniques, coaxing bacteria to do the job by inserting the proper human gene into their genome. The average cost of one year of therapy is $10,000 which makes this a rich person's therapy. The price may come down in the future, but it will never be cheap. " Neither the real HGH nor a true synthetic can be taken orally. It is too large of a molecule to pass through the submucosa into the bloodtream. " The correct chain length of this amino acid is 191 and it is ONLY effective when taken as a subcutaneous injection " So far the only success at synthesis has been with the " Eli-Lilly hGH product, Humatrope®, because it is a synthetic product of the correct chain length and has the longest shelf life both unconstituted (approximately one year) and reconstituted (14 days). Humatrope® should be kept cool whenever possible and is essential to keep refrigerated once mixed. " The GH sold inexpensively is an analog. (def. having the same function but different in structure and origin) And, anyway inexpensive is a relative word I've seen 1 fl. oz. (1 mo. supply?) go for between $100 & $150. Hmmm, doesn't sound so cheap to me..but then compared to $10 grand they can call it that. Now it may still do some trick...but there are more natural ways and, even cheaper,...unfortunately they're not effortless... and not as attractive as a magic potion/fountain of youth. So....my schpiel has been about this field needing us to do our research ...and encouraging our patients to do theirs...I, for one, won't want to see mine waste their money nor their health. Keep it coming Todd! Kit
