Guest guest
Group, I am looking for a little help for my uncle who is confined to a wheelchair(quadriplegic). He is getting repeated sores on his knees that are approximately 2 inches in diameter. They burst and a clear exudate drains from them. They then become infected and are treated with antibiotics and have been recurring for the past 3 months. I have no pulse or tongue picture as he lives on the East coast and I am on the West coast. The MD's are stumped and are calling them pressure sores but I find that highly unlikely as there is no pressure on his knees. He is on multiple Meds for the paralysis so I was hoping for a topical formula - maybe a poultice? Any suggestions are appreciated. thx Howard
Guest guest
Sounds like it could be yin boils and as his muscles are wasted the spleen is affected and too much sitting injures the spleen , huang qi comes to mind but an overall assessment of pattern imbalances needs to be looked at . A spleen tonic based around si jun zi tang may be useful. Heiko

It is a case of East picks up and packages West as Eastern. It is just peroxide made into a cream and is good for the type of condition you described once the sores have broken open. Hope this helps--- Mike

Guest guest
Without knowing anything else, I would say this is a type of damp heat. A relatively safe type of poltice would be a Taro Plaster Grate the white part of the root. you should obtain a wet sticky mushy paste. If too wet add flour (white is okay) The paste must be wet otherwise add water. Add raw ginger or powder (about 5% - 10 %). Paste should be in direct contact with the skin. Use cheesecloth. There should be no cloth between paste and skin. Keep in direct contact for 2 - 4 hours. Add water if it dries out. Do not cover taro plaster with plastic. This is a cold plaster so do not use warm water. Use for all inflammations - and non specific inlammations eczema, boils, hemorrhoids, benign tumors, sprains, burns etc. Use continuously for 1 - 3 weeks. > " hp " <hnp > > > Herbs for non-healing sores >Sun, 3 Jun 2001 23:53:26 -0700 > >Group, >I am looking for a little help for my uncle who is confined to a >wheelchair(quadriplegic).
