These doses don't seem so high to me .........I still work in qian. so

eg yu jin 7.5 grams is about 2 and half qian. Herbs like he huan pi and

huang qi up to 30 grams and more is common. Have you used he huan hua in

mental illness? Better but more expensive than he huan pi.

 

Or do you mean bulk as in herb granules .

 

Actually while on the subject of yu jin, Clavey uses up to 6-8 qian ie

18-24 grams in depression and mental illness.

 

In comparison , with one of my patients with depression,nervous

exhaustion, and menopausal, medication is ( spelling probably wrong)

venlafaxine, alanzapine,( for bi polar )and efexor-xr she said they are

anti psycotic drugs.

s & s are flush, thirst, suicidal, depression, can't think, memory down,

lots of crying,can't visualize and doesn't dream any more.And extreme

tiredness.

even doses, in granulation form ( a mix of sun ten and

Chinawest granules)

ONLY 1 gram 2 times per day.

 

By the 2nd week, " improving steadily " , now can out at night, starting

to dream and can visualise, no suicidal thoughts .

By 8th week has cut back to the lowest dose of drug.

 

It can't be placebo , as she came for herbs for menopausal flushing. She

was unaware that the herbs could treat mental stuff.

 

ANOTHER CASE: menopausal woman, I tried 3 weeks of granules at this

dose..........no change, as soon as I went to avergae dose raw herbs

..........heat stopped.

 

something you said some time back I think made sense.......if the

patients are more spiritual, etheral, less materialistic ....can't

remember exactly what you said.You know , the crystal, pendulum

intuitive types respond better to low doses.....I believe.
