Kip There is the synergy that occurs from cooking herbs together, but there also is synergy from merely ingesting multiple herbs that have not been cooked together. The effect of the herbs becomes a whole that is greater than the sum of the parts. I thinking cooking the herbs together adds another layer of syndergy if the prolonged high temperature causes chemical changes that would not be caused by merely mixing the herbs in the stomach. But in either case we have a complex mixture of constituents that is synergistic in nature. I have found that for practical purposes, the flexibility of single herb concentrates far outweighs any loss of the synergy that comes with cooking. I can affect the synergy by controlling the dosage of each ingredient and which ingredients I choose for each patient. that seems far more important to me. I used to use premade concentrates and always felt my hands were tied by not being able to adjust dosage and subtract ingredients. I asked Heiner Fruehauf this very question five years ago and he agrees with the points I have made. In fact, he made them to me.
