Guest guest
I am treating a patient who has a damp white skin infection between his toes. It is white and fungal or " cloudy " looking. It has never been cultured but he refers to it as " candida " . He has genital herpes as well. I am looking for some ideas for an external wash for his toes to help control this condition. The skin disease looks white, damp, does not itch, but is worse in the damp hot weather. Constitutionally, he tends towards damp-heat, runs warm, is red faced. His tongue is red, cracked in the center with small longitudinal cracks with a medium coat, thicker yellow in rear. He has a wiry full pulse, 56 bpm. He is a yoga instructor. He over-eats sweets, is trying to quit smoking (down to 3-10 cigs daily), and has cut down on coffee to 1 large cup daily. He is already being treated with oral herbs but these are not specifically geared towards his skin condition, although they do contain damp-heat clearing herbs. Would like some ideas for an external wash to simply control the branch while we work on the root. Thank you in advance. Hillary

Decoct it into a tea and have your patient dip his feet into it for a half hour as frequently as possible. At least three times per week. And then have him use talcum powder when he puts on his socks. -- Al Stone L.Ac. <AlStone http://www.BeyondWellBeing.com Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. Guest guest
Hi Hiilary, I wanted to share a product that your client (and you probably) would love. A new high performance toe sock made from coolmax fiber which wicks moisture away from the foot provides enormous relief from skin conditions like your patient's. The sock is incredible, wearing it stimulates all the channels on the foot and it keeps the foot dry preventing blistering. to check it out go to http://www.injinji.com and urge your patient to treat the damp heat... the sock should help to greatly ameliorate his symptoms. Guest guest
Alon: In some of the cruder martial art liniments (back in the 1970s) baby aspirin was added as a topical analgesic, similar to OTC remedies like Aspercreme (I think it's the one that contains aspirin). But for this kind of condition I've also successfully used a combination of Listereen mouthwash and Tincture of Green Soap (I'm not sure if this is still available at drug stores). Guest guest
Well with my limited knowledge of chemistry I would say that: Aspirin’s actives ingredient is Acetylsalicylic acid. When hydrolyzed it becomes salicylic and acetic acids. Salicylic acid is a known anti-fungal. And if anyone wants to know why 20, well… because this is a ancient daoist number… J - -----Original Message----- alonmarcus [alonmarcus] Sunday, August 12, 2001 5:27 PM To: Re: Damp skin infection--need herb ideas for wash 20 crushed aspirin. >>>>Why aspirin The Chinese Herb Academy, a voluntary organization of licensed healthcare practitioners, matriculated students and postgraduate academics specializing in Chinese Herbal Medicine, provides a variety of professional services, including board approved online continuing education. Guest guest
This isn't a TCM remedy for this; but, it is very effective. You need fresh lemons sliced and squeeze the juice on the feet the lemons need to be fresh. Canned lemonjuice doesn't work. This is actually an old mexican remedy I think.
