Guest guest
I noticed a report of anti-cancer activity for the Thai soup Tom Yum Goong. It contains Galangal lemongrass straw mushrooms chillies fish sauce lime leaves and juice shrimps and coriander leaves. Does anyone have a comment on the ingredients from the TCM perspective. I gather that the galangal is a different species from that used in China. Guest guest
Potter's New Cyclopaedia of Botanical Drugs and Preparations (R.C. Wren): A paste containing galangal and bloodroot [sanguinaria canadensis] has been used for skin cancer. Alpinia galangal (Greater galangal) has anti-ulcer activity in animals and contains 1'-acetoxy derivatives which show anti-tumor activity in vitro. ============================== Peter L.
