Guest guest
Hi everybody. I have a very good friend of mine for a patient. He had Hodgkin's disease approx 5.5 years ago, was treated " successfully " with chemo and radiation, and has been cancer- free since that time. Just recently (approx 6 weeks) he has developed an asymmetry in his throat -- diagnosed as muscular dystrophy to the posterior SCM muscle. There is a partial paralyzation of the throat and I am looking for information on any research or clinical experience that anyone is aware of for herbs treating this type of occurrence. Anyone know of herbs to stimulate muscle cell growth -- or at least prevent further atrophy/dystrophy? Anyone treat anything like this? There appears mostly deficiency (yin and blood) without much apparent excess (no blood stag or wind apparent). I have been thinking mostly about herbs like Ji Xue Teng and Huang Qi, but I don't know if herbs like Di Long, Quan Xie, Tian Nan Xing, etc. are appropriate here. Also, I'm sure dosages are crucial here -- any guidance on this as well would be much appreciated. Thanks for your help. Ross
