Guest guest
The emerging theory of why caloric restriction prolong life in most species tested is that it lowers lifetime exposure to insulin. Thus a lower-carbohydrate, lower glycemic diet, may extend life even if total calories are not radicaloly restricted. At the least it woudl delay the typical onset of age-related insulin resistance, which is in turn associated with increased inflammation and oxidative damage to the tissues.
