Guest guest
Hi all, I am curious about what others would prescribe for the following case: Female, 49 presents with pain in the sacral area... generally 4 out of 10... going up to a 9 of 10 at which time she needs to take more western drugs. She does get a total of 3 hours relief... no pain following Acupuncture treatment, for the past 4 treatments I have needled into the foramens UB 31-33 and UB 30, all points with e-stim <30 minutes>... using SI 3 & UB 62 and Kid 3. Also, Heart back shu was remarkabley tender and needled, as well. This patient is a MD and she needs to be free of pain meds... and is very interested in taking herbs. Her Western Dx. = Rieters Syndrome of 3 years... she is taking lots of predisone Tongue: is slightly pale, puffy with scallops and slight curvy midline crack Pulse: is 64 bpm, irregular, slightly wiry in the 2nd & 3rd postion of the (L) hand and was most xu in the heart position... needling Heart 8, on the left side brought this Xu up Energy is 6 of 10, patient feels hot " almost feverish/flushed " , sleep is good, when the pain is intense she feels nauseated, diet consists primarily of dairy, calcium, cheese, and bread. Her menstruation has been changing... that is last month she bleed for over 2 weeks and it " did not feel like a normal " period. However after 1 week with no blood... she has began to bleed again, she says it feels like a " normal " period, that is bloating, cramps... palpating Sp 6 took away the cramps. There are purple clots, at 2 days pre-menstruation she had a migraine--primarily in the occipital area. Her emotions she descibes as angry... due to pain, anxious... as she will have to quit practicing if pain does not get under control... and slightly depressed with it all. Because I am basing my diagnosis strictly on her chief complaint... I diagnosed her with qi and xue yu in the sacral area/UB channel. Feedback... would be great! In Health, Teresa Hall, L.Ac. I bet the heat sx are due to the stasis. Reiter's, like most autoimmune diseases, usually presents with blood stasis. I have had good luck with shen tong zhu yu tang in such cases. You would need to modify for qi xu with huang qi perhaps.
Guest guest
Hi, Teresa, I would like to give you some advices. I suggest use the herbal formula to remove her pain. Du2-Hou2-Ji4-Sheng-Tang I think this formula is quite fit for your patient. Just try and think about this formula. It will be work. If you like the pain lift faster, you might add The other formula: Jiang-hou2-Sheng4-Shi-Tang to Dry out the wet and cold of the joint. Because this formula also dry out the body¡¦s energy, while the pain release, you might stop this formula and keep the first prescription until all symptoms are gone.
