What is considered the four level diagnosis was primarily developed by Ye Gui [Ye Tian-Shi] in the early 18th century and written down by his students. I think most of the terms and ideas show up in his Discussion of Warm-Heat [Disorders] (Wen re lun]. To be honest, I am not sure when the term “four level differentiation” came into being ? probably quite a bit later.
