Guest guest
Hi, Every one, I think it time to balance the situation. I didn't mean the WM approach is not good. I mean , when you see another culture, please standing on objective ,do not use your background assume that every thing ,every culture, every person should act as what you know(or your culture). Actually, There are too many un-know in the universal. If you only accept the only thing(scientific evidences) is civilization, that must be an self-limitation of learning and development. Guest guest
I agree. Along with using the tools of modern science, we must try to understand Chinese medicine in its original context. Guest guest
Hi,Alon, > >>>There is nothing wrong with integration of > perspective and examination of both > Alon Yes,You are 100% correct. But,According the rule of scientific research, when you exam two groups or compare with two groups, you also have to put both of them in a equal position. Now,You know 100% of your WM culture, and maybe only understand 20-30% of TCM culture and you claim your examination is correct.I might say,It is not correct , because There are too many bios in your experiment. Guest guest
Jeansu, You have a very strange and lopsided view of western medicine and TCM. Almost as though you see things from a good/evil perspective or an enlightened/unenlightened way of seeing the world. Obviously I am passionate for and a strong supporter of TCM --- that's my career. However, your comments always raise my hackles. It's almost as though you have a pseudo - religious take on TCM. Western medicine does some things better than the best of us. It also does many things much worse than the most average of our profesion. One of that system's strong suites is it's ability to measure success beyond anecdote and in fairly broad swathes of the population --- something that Chinese medicine doesn't do at all, or at least prior to western medicine's incursion into China. For our patients' sake it behooves us to learn from their system and use to make our own better. And for the sake of covering my butt on this group --- it also is essential to constantly make reference to and investigate further the classic texts of our profession which inform us of our predecessors investigations. Guest guest
I am sorry, I have to disagree with you here, Mark. I don't find Jeansu's attitude strange or lopsided at all. . . .or good vs. evil I think that those of us who " defend " classical Chinese medicine are forced to overstate the case because it seems to be a minority viewpoint. And the problem with a minority viewpoint is that one has to shout to be heard, because it is possible that what is most valuable in Chinese medicine will be swept away by the tide of biomedicine. For example, see our discussion last week on " using Chinese medicinals and acumoxa according to biomedical theory " . We are all " present " on the list. Please do not write about people on the list in the third person. Address them directly. As to gender, who cares? I bet some of you even wonder what I look like. A little mystery is fun, eh? Let's play nice.
