reading further on purging, the author does indeed go on to say that purging

may be indicated at the onset of an exterior condition if signs of interior

heat are present. however the purging is combined with exterior releasing.

Ah. Does the author have a formula? Do you happen to know the date

the author was writing?

 

Fang feng tong sheng tang does this - however, the interior heat

should be causing constipation to use it.

It appears that one uses the appropriate exterior releasing rx such as

yin qiao san and adds da huang or da cheng qi tang

I believe constipation should also be present to dx interior heat in

the passage I relayed, though this is not completely explicit.

 

P.S. one of my disappointments with this new warm disease book is that

pattern and formula summaries do not us the pinyin for the formula, but

only bensky english names. this causes me to have to cross reference

in order to know what the formula is in some cases.
