Guest guest
Alon, I'm curious as to where you practice. I would love to examine urine under a microscope to check for occult infection, but think the state of Texas would take a dim view of it and accuse me of practicing beyond my scope. Perhaps it's better where you live?
Guest guest
Gabrielle you could use a urine chem strip (in Texas) that would give you a significant amount of information such as values of ph, specific gravity, hemolized and non hemolized blood, protein, glucose and leukocytes. Some of these items are specific to occult infection and renal/ hepatic stress. All of which correlate well w/ CM diagnostics. High values of specific items would indicate a need to refer out to an MD for additional testing. Also you can use the chem strip as a gauge as to how the herbal formula is doing along w/ duration. Falling values would indicate effectiveness, unresponse values would indicate need to reassess. Warren
Guest guest
That's a great idea and certainly cheaper than a microscope. I worked as a medical technologist for years, so it's no problem to read one. My question was whether or not I would be breaking any law by reading and charting results without a physician's supervision. Do you have personal experience in this area, Warren? -- In , Warren Cargal <wcargal9@b...> wrote: > Gabrielle you could use a urine chem strip (in Texas) that would give > you a significant amount of information such as values of ph, specific > gravity, hemolized and non hemolized blood, protein, glucose and > leukocytes. Unless Warren is specifically familiar with TX law, which he can confirm, I would check the state laws at NCCAOM.org I know it is NOT legal in Oregon where I used to live. Guest guest
I am in GA. which does Not allow microscope use, so i use chem strip. I like them, convenient, a lot of info and a simple way to monitor results... thats my personal experience. As you have a med tech background, the CM interpretive piece should be fairly straight forward. For instance low ph value (5-5.5) would indicate acidic condition which would indicate internal heat in CM. Acidic conditions caused by stress (epinephrine creates cellular acidity) and consumption of acidic foods (red meat, processed foods). So thats one of the eight test on the chem strip. All work well w/ CM. Warren

Guest guest
Alon, The urine chem strip has eight values (per strip) which are looked at. Cost about $3.50/strip. The values examined are ph, specific gravity, nitrates, glucose, protien, hemolized and non-hemolized blood, leukocytes and bilirubin. Guest guest
Alon- If all you need is the pH, get a roll of pH paper ($10-$30 depending upon sensitivity gradient. ) One roll will last you a very long time. - pH paper is available OTC, and so are chem strips (but one needs to ask the pharmacist) in most states. Your patient can get it and report the pH or reagent values. Karen Vaughan CreationsGarden *************************************** Email advice is not a substitute for medical treatment.
