Guest guest
CHINESE LANGUAGE: Many of our readers have difficult with the Chinese language. For many, it seems that it is easier to practice taiji, tuina, or qigong than to pronounce it correctly. To help, we have posted the following: 1. In partnership with the Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) in China, we can now offer you accredited degree and non-degree programs in Chinese language. BLCU is the largest and most respected language school in all of China and specializes in teaching Chinese for foreigners. You can register for online courses from your home or office or classroom courses in Beijing. You can actually earn enough credits for a Bachelors of Arts in Chinese Language without leaving home... and the cost is very reasonable at only $40 per credit. See details at our special page: http://qi-journal.com/blcu.asp?vendor=newsletter 2. We have posted several new tools in the language area of our cultural section. A new romanization converter is especially helpful to discover that Lao Tzu and Lao Zi are the same person. Perhaps this tool will help everyone become more consistent in their romanizations. While I don't mind persons using any of the popular systems (pinyin, Yale, or Wade-Giles), I think they should avoid using a mixture of them in the same story (or sentence). Go to http://qi-journal.com/culture.asp?vendor=newsletter and select the " language " subtopic. 3. Last, but not least... a complete Chinese to English dictionary. We wrote a new interface to a public domain text file that lists 21,498 Chinese words and expressions. You can type in Chinese, pinyin, or English and get a translation. This dictionary was written for those able to view Chinese characters on their PC, but we knew that many of our readers don't have such ability.... therefore we did our largest project to date. We made 21,498 GIF pictures for our simplified listings so you can view them with any browser. (yes, the traditional characters are being worked on for a future update). Visit the dictionary at http://qi-journal.com/cdict.asp?vendor=newsletter ---------------------- CATALOG: Browsing our print catalog is a wonderful experience, but browsing through over 2500 items in our o nline catalog is painful unless you already know what you want. We have split out several popular topics into smaller, more specialized versions that are more friendly to browse. These are exactly the same products as in our larger catalog... just a little easier to view, with better pictures, etc. -- Arts and Crafts: http://qi-journal.com/artscatalog.asp? vendor=newsletter -- Language and Culture: http://qi-journal.com/languagecatalog.asp?vendor=newsletter
