Guest guest
Alon: I agree with you. Follow the money. The herb companies will immeasurably and directly benefit financially from this type of research. They should LEAD this initiative; it is part of their cost of doing business. For practitioners to want to finance the research, it is more about their own social standing and justification for being able to practice on par with other professions. It is not a bad thing to want that, but doing someone else's job to achieve it is the wrong way. I suspect the herb companies already have a cartel or assications set up for themselves. Perhaps the least they could do is set up a free clearing house or database on the internet for the research already done. It would prime the well and set an important precedent. Schools, associations, and practitioners could use it for classes and to demonstrate their efficacy to news organizations and the general public.
