Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I am doing research on dysmenorrhea and was looking for experienced practitioners thoughts on the treatment of dysmenorrhea. How effective is TCM in treating this disease and what seems to be the most effective way of treating this and regulating the menses. Over the years have any of you found a specific approach and treatment to be more effective than others? Looking forward to your thoughts. One of the most effective ways of dealing with painful menstruation, irregular menstruation, and related problems is tai4 ji2. One of the special features and functions of this exercise is to quiet the blood. Over the years, I have known many women who have effectively dealt with menstrual problems that manifested in the whole range of signs and symptoms through the practice of tai4 ji2 alone. Curiously, there is a very simple massage technique that I've found to be of enormous benefit, particularly in extreme cases where the pain associated with menstruation is most severe. You make a loose fist and pound gently on the woman's sacrum. It seems to work best if the woman is lying on her belly, unless that position is too painful and then sitting is okay. Usually just a few minutes of gentle pounding will result in markedly decreased intensity of pain, and often the pain goes away. Treating with medicinal formulas has to be carried out according to the appropriate differential diagnosis, and I've found that the most effective use of formulas are those that are taken before and after menstruation to noursih, calm, or otherwise affect the blood, liver, circulation, etc. But most women can, I believe, improve their menstrual health by practicing tai4 ji2, and many can be helped through painful periods with this gentle method of massage. Naturally enough, there are often issues related to emotional life, diet, and sexual behavior. But other than mentioning these as factors to take into account, there's not too much to say in the absence of specific case date. Guest guest
My experience, which I believe will be echoed by most participants, is that dysmenorhea is usually very easy to resolve. The exact approach, though is so highly dependent on diff. dx that giving one specific tx here may lead you in the wrong direction. Most of your textbooks at PCOM should have the breakdown of patterns. Mark Reese
