Pardon me I have not been keeping up with recent posts. But when I read

today's post, I spoke with Ben Lo about Professor's medical publications.

He mentioned 2 specifically, one perhaps translated as " Eight Important

Talks about Cancer " or " Eight Discourses About Cancer. " The other was on

the subject of Gynecology although Ben did not know the exact title.

However, he will contact his medical friends in Taiwan and see if copies

can be obtained. Stay tuned!

Ben shared a couple interesting biographical notes about Professor. In the

early 1940's, perhaps 1943, Professor was President of the country's herb

association. Evidently every province and every municipality had an

association of herbal doctors. All these local groups formed one giant

Chinese association of which Professor was President. At that time he was

also President of the martial arts association.

I was fortunate enough to experience the high regard and esteem in which

Professor's lineage is held when I went to Taiwan in 1982 with Ben, Bob

Smith and Martin Inn, and a small T'ai Chi study group from our school at

that time. We were feted beyond imagination, fireworks at our arrival at

various stops, on TV doing the form, banquets every meal (no rice either).

Have no doubt - the " Master of Five Excellences " lives actively in the

lives of T'ai Chi practitioners around the world.

For those interested in detailed biographical information about the

Professor, check out the Journal of Asian Martial Arts. Bob wrote an

article in Volume 4, 1995, titled " Remembering Zheng Man'qing [Cheng

Man-Ch'ing]: Some Sketches From His Life. " There is another very

interesting article, and to be on-topic at least once, about what a T'ai

Chi practitioner's hand may offer the medicine, titled " Chen Weiming, Zheng

Manqing, and the Differences Between Strength and Intrinsic Energy. " That

is in Volume 6, 1997.
