Guest guest
As we've touched upon the subject of education in China, I'm wondering if anyone has some suggestions regarding going to China to augment the basic TCM education, especially in herbs, that I've received. I've checked out the website of Chengdu University of TCM and they have a 2 month international program from Sept-Nov. Is anyone familiar with the program? Is a program the best way to go, or are there other alternatives? -- especially if one's grasp of the language is not even rudimentary, though hopefully to improve. Many thanks for any suggestions or comments offered. Laure Liverman

If you like you can contact me off the list and I can answer specific questions you have about the offerings there. In general I think it's an excellent destination for those who seek to travel to China for a look at Chinese medicine there. Ken
Guest guest
Ken, Thanks for responding to my inquiry. CDUTCM apparently has a 2 month program for international students. Are you familiar with this program? The English language web site appears not to have been updated for more than a year. I've e-mailed the contact person listed, a professor Huang QingXia, but I have not had any reply as of yet. In the event that I do not receive a reply, is there anyone whom you could recommend for me to contact? My basic goals for this brief sojourn are to 1) see the breadth of the medicine as practiced on its own turf and 2) to immerse myself much more deeply and intensely in the practice of the medicine than my " Masters " degree preparation in this medicine has allowed for. (I place the " masters " in quotations to signify my disappointment in the acutal level of education proferred in the program I am attending) My main concern is that the time I can spend in China is not long and I want to make the most of it. I'm looking for some concrete suggestions in terms of how to effectively obtain my goals. Also, just to note, I've been savoring the exchanges on the herbal academy forum. Thanks for your awareness and inclusion of us silent ones. And thanks for your time. Laure Liverman
Guest guest
Laurie, and All, > Ken, > Thanks for responding to my inquiry. I'm happy to respond to inquiries either on or off the list. If others have questions or are interested in study in China I can sometimes help get people pointed in productive directions. And in the Complexity and Research Center we've recently set up in Beijing we hope to have some training programs running within the next couple of years. In the meantime, anyone interested in opportunities in Chinese medical education and training in China, please feel free to ask. > Also, just to note, I've been savoring the exchanges on the herbal academy > forum. If we want to thank someone for silence we can tip our hats in his direction. Ken

I've noticed your reply usually includes an " i " and thought you'd like to know it wasn't I to whom you replied. Just a typo and no mistake in identity. Ken
