Guest guest
Chinese meteor 'may explain historic mystery' Geologists believe the discovery of a 5,000-year-old meteorite could explain the mysterious death of one of China's founding fathers. Huangdi is said to have been taken away by dragons which destroyed the ancient town of Huangling. The rock is large enough to have caused widespread destruction when it is estimated to have plummeted to earth. The meteorite fell on the Yintai Mountain and was found near a mausoleum according to The China Daily. Historical records say that Huangdi died when the land was shattered by nine dragons which smashed the town of Huangling. Li Yanjun has been researching the subject for 20 years and believes the meteorite may have been responsible. He says most of it remains buried but the small part which has been uncovered is pitted with bumps and holes and traces of burned material. The Mausoleum of Huangdi is a sacred place for Chinese people and an annual ceremony is held there to honour Huangdi, known as the Yellow Emperor.
