Dear Colleen,

This patient does not have cancer. He has a benign tumor. The

development of benign tumors and the impact the immune

system has on that development is quite different than that of

malignant tumors (cancer). I do not believe the mushrooms you

mention have been studied in this type of benign tumor. Also,

since it is now being recognized that the category of diseases

called cancer is actually a loose association of quite different

diseases which all result in tumor development. So I would be

careful not to make any claims about the effect of an herb on

cancer in general (because there are few valid generalities that

can be made in this field). I would limit my report to the specific

cancers studied. What these herbs can most certainly do is

stimulate the immune system to prevent chemo side effects.

This appears to improve treatment results. However, chemo is

not involved in this case.

I still want a diagnosis before I can comment more.
