Guest guest
This is a passage from Ten Lecture on chinese Medicinals, tr. Mitchell " Black sesame and hemp seed both free the stool by moistening. Black sesame tends to enrich and supplement the liver and kidney and to nourish the blood and boost essence, in order to moisten dryness, but hemp seed tends to relax the spleen, engender liquid, increase humor, and moisten the intestines, in order to free the stool. " Note the use of the word relax above. I have wondered why huo ma ren enters the spleen channel. this text uses wiseman terminology, but I do not understand what it means to relax the spleen. I saw it listed in redwing and assumed it was out, but several emails have suggested otherwise. I quoted a prepub copy. Sorry if that is a problem for anyone.
