Patients get so used to the 'rotten nail' that they dont mention it anymore. My chinese 'Atlas of diagnostic methods of TCM' says: damp-qi settles/blocks the nail for a long time so that blood cant nourish the nail. It was not primarily the toe-nail-tinea why they received treatment, but mainly some kidney/liver deficiency with some kind of stasis (blood/qi/fluids) on top of it (infertility/hoarse voice/rough skin). But after treatment they said: hey, my evil toe nail got better by itself... I used formulas in the range of gexia-suiyu-tang, Shen-Ling-Baizhu- San, Zhi-Bai-Dihuangwan that address damps/stagnancy on top of deficiency. Greetings Tay.
